On a humid Thursday afternoon in early June a sort of ballet on bikes is taking place on the tennis courts at Westover Hill Park. Welcome to the weekly pick up game of Bike Polo.
Coming on this special episode of the Mechanics of Transportation and the RVA Bike Scene, I’m diving back into doing a full fledged radio feature story. If you’re not familiar with my work, for years I was the transportation and general assignment reporter for the local public radio station in Richmond, Virginia. And besides doing quick, 1-minute turnaround stories, we got to spread our audio wings and do 3-4 minute and sometimes longer feature stories. These are filled with natural sound or AMBI, good quotes and it’s basically good story telling.
