The Mechanics of Transportation
How can I get drivers to slow down in my neighborhood? What’s Vision Zero all about? Why does it take so long to get a sidewalk/bike lane or a reduced speed limit approved? Welcome to the Mechanics of Transportation – a podcast that will answer these questions as well as introduce you to people who you may want to share a bike ride, bus ride or walk with.

Just What is the TNT?
On this episode–number 6 if you’re using an abacus to keep track, I’m speaking w/ Allie Hill -- she’s a volunteer working to make the Three Notch’d Trail, or TNT a reality.
The TNT is a proposed, 25-mile shared use path will wind its way from the City of Charlottesville then move onto Ivy, Crozet, and the Blue Ridge Tunnel in Afton. Additionally, the trail will connect users to the University of Virginia, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, and the Appalachian Trail.
It’s been in the works for since 1992–but it’s getting closer to fruition thanks to Gov’t grants.
Allie and I nerd out about that trail and about how in the future, they’ll be a whole network connected trails in Virginia that will include a line going from the Blue Ridge to the Atlantic Ocean.
So, put your helmet on and let’s talk the TNT.
